Abstract

Software architecture evaluation is important for assessing whether a system design can satisfy critical quality attributes such as performance, scalability, security, maintainability, reliability, usability, and modifiability. Large software systems often contain multiple components, interfaces, databases, services, and deployment environments, making it difficult to judge architectural quality only through code review or implementation testing. Traditional evaluation methods may identify technical issues after development, but they may not reveal early design risks related to future changes, workload growth, integration failure, or operational constraints. This article focuses on software architecture evaluation using scenario-based methods, where realistic usage, change, failure, security, and performance scenarios are used to examine architectural behavior before full implementation. The study discusses how scenario identification, stakeholder input, quality attribute analysis, architectural trade-off assessment, and risk documentation can support better design decisions. The article concludes that scenario-based architecture evaluation can reduce design risk, improve system quality, support maintainability, and strengthen long-term software project success.
