Abstract

Project communication is important in global software development because teams often work across different countries, time zones, languages, cultures, tools, and organizational boundaries. Global software projects face communication challenges such as delayed responses, unclear requirement interpretation, weak knowledge sharing, coordination gaps, meeting difficulties, documentation mismatch, and reduced informal interaction between distributed team members. Traditional co-located communication practices may not work effectively when developers, testers, analysts, managers, and clients collaborate through digital platforms and asynchronous workflows. This article focuses on project communication challenges in global software development by examining time-zone differences, cultural barriers, requirement clarification issues, tool fragmentation, decision-tracking problems, and coordination delays. The study discusses how structured communication plans, shared documentation, regular review meetings, clear escalation paths, collaborative tools, and defined ownership can improve project transparency and reduce misunderstanding. The article concludes that effective communication management is essential for improving team coordination, reducing rework, supporting requirement clarity, and ensuring reliable software delivery in global development environments.
